Chapter 1387: Chapter 1387: Three People Living Together (1)
“Since you know he got upset because of you, why don’t you treat him a bit better?” Qiao Qiao expressed deep sympathy for Ye Qilan. Running into Su Hongxing–wasn’t that Ye Qilan’s misfortune?
“Xiaoqiao, you should treat me a bit better too. It’s rare for me to visit–shouldn’t you show me some extra care?” Ye Shiqing suddenly chimed in.
Su Hongxing’s gaze swept ambiguously between Qiao Qiao and Ye Shiqing, and she laughed, “You two can slowly talk this out. I’ll head downstairs first.”
She spotted Ye Qilan sitting at the dining table and took the seat beside him.
Ye Qilan had a sullen expression and stared straight ahead, treating her as if she were air.
“Ye Qilan, did you sleep well last night?” Su Hongxing tried to make conversation.
Ye Qilan picked up a newspaper and directly used it to cover his face, making it clear he had no intention of speaking to her.
Su Hongxing hit a wall. Turning back to see Ye Shiqing coming downstairs, she said, “We have a guest at home–shouldn’t you play the host?”
Ye Qilan continued to ignore her, so she decided not to embarrass herself further. She figured she’d wait until he calmed down to have a proper talk.
After Ye Shiqing took his seat, he said to Su Hongxing, “I was thinking of staying at Qingmu Garden for a while–would that be okay?”
Qiao Qiao, who was focused on drinking her porridge, froze upon hearing these words. She looked at Su Hongxing and blinked rapidly as if signaling her.
Su Hongxing caught Qiao Qiao’s hint and hesitated, saying, “That… would depend on Ye Qilan’s decision.”
Ye Qilan didn’t like Ye Shiqing. If she allowed him to stay at Qingmu Garden, wouldn’t that make Ye Qilan even angrier?
Ye Shiqing then turned to Ye Qilan, “Sisi, I was thinking of staying at Qingmu Garden for a few days–would that be alright?”
Ye Qilan finally put down the newspaper, coldly spitting out three words: “Not a chance!”
Ye Shiqing, however, remained undeterred and smiled, saying, “Sisi, I know you’re upset with me. If you don’t let me stay here, how else will you show me your displeasure?”
“The people I dislike are an eyesore when they’re nearby. Ye Shiqing, you are one of the people I despise the most!” Ye Qilan responded bluntly, making no effort to hide his disdain for Ye Shiqing.
Ye Shiqing wanting to settle in his home and pursue someone–that was like pouring salt on his wounds. His own wife was about to run off with someone; how could he possibly indulge Ye Shiqing?
“Su Hongxing, what do you think?” Ye Shiqing gave up trying to reason with Ye Qilan and turned to ask Su Hongxing.
Su Hongxing, realizing the question had been thrown back to her, looked toward Ye Qilan with a pained expression.
But Ye Qilan avoided her gaze, his cold, detached demeanor enough to make anyone shiver.
“In our household, he calls the shots. If he doesn’t want you to stay, I can only agree with him,” Su Hongxing replied awkwardly.
Ye Shiqing chuckled, “You two are such a picture of harmony–truly enviable.”
Qiao Qiao usually ignored his calls, and he couldn’t show up at her workplace on a whim. He had planned to stay at Qingmu Garden for a few days, hoping to break down Qiao Qiao’s defenses.
But now it seemed that without Su Hongxing’s intervention, he wouldn’t be able to get close to Qiao Qiao at all.

“Exactly–whatever Ye Qilan says, I do,” Su Hongxing intentionally buttered up Ye Qilan.
Ye Qilan didn’t even spare her a glance and maintained his icy demeanor.
Su Hongxing felt that even flattering Ye Qilan this time wouldn’t make any difference–he wasn’t willing to acknowledge her efforts at all.
After finishing breakfast, Ye Shiqing offered to drive Qiao Qiao to work, but she turned him down: “No, I don’t want outsiders to see me with you.”
With Ye Xiandong’s fate still uncertain, she absolutely could not be associated with Ye Shiqing. She was always afraid of gossip–after all, rumors could be lethal.
